Carers Week 2020
For the past 2 years we have celebrated carers during Carers Week by sending them a special Smile in partnership with Bear Hugs. This is to say thank you to the carers of ME sufferers and remind them how much they are appreciated. It has been so well received we decided to make it an annual event. This year’s Carers Week is 8th-14th June and with the help of Bear Hugs we are going to send deserving carers a special Bear Hug to make them smile.
We understand the concern some people may have about receiving a parcel during these times. If you do not feel comfortable at this time, celebrating carers during Carers Week is an annual event so there will be future opportunities to do so. Smile For ME are not directly involved in the handling or distribution of the Smile Hugs as they will be coming direct from Bear Hugs. Bear Hugs are keeping their staff and hugs safe which you can read about here.
You can nominate your carer through our nomination form. We will consider as many nominations as possible but unfortunately we are not able to send a Smile to everyone nominated. We will advise whether your nomination has been successful or not. The successful nominees will receive their Bear Hug during carers week 8th-14th June 2020. Please note we are sorry but unfortunately we are only able to send one Smile per person so anyone who has previously received a Smile will not be eligible for another. This enables us to send a Smile to as many people affected by ME as possible.
We have loved working with Bear Hugs over the last couple of years. Bear Hugs is a brilliant business founded by Faye, a chronic illness sufferer, to spread a little kindness and a hug. As well as the wonderful work they do they offer and advocate for accessible inclusive jobs. This year they are very kindly supporting Smile For ME through their donation scheme. We are so grateful to them for helping us celebrate deserving carers. Thank you Bear Hugs.
Sending lots of love to all carers. You are all amazing people doing an amazing job. You don’t always get enough recognition but we hope you know how much you are appreciated. Thank you for all you do especially during these current very difficult times.
