COVID-19 Update
As you are aware, Coronavirus/COVID-19 is impacting everyone at the moment. We want to say hello to you at this unsettling time, and update you on Smile For ME’s response.
How will it affect our Smiles?
We have decided to postpone sending Smiles until further notice, but we will keep you informed. We have made this decision with everyone’s best interest in mind. We are particularly mindful of the advice for those with underlying health conditions to self-isolate and minimise contact even with postal services. Furthermore, organising and sending Smiles will increase demands on delivery companies who are currently inundated with delivering essential items to vulnerable people and we do not wish to impede this.
Smiles for the month of March have already been posted and we will be sharing pictures of these on social media. From April onwards all Smiles (including Merryn’s Smile Day Smiles) will temporarily be suspended.
We hope to reschedule Merryn’s Smile Day from 13th May to 8th August to coincide with Severe ME Awareness Day.
Our nomination form will remain open if you still wish to nominate an ME sufferer or carer for a future Smile but please note no Smiles will be sent until further notice.
We will continue to review the situation and keep you updated.
Fundraising and Donations
We understand the situation for everyone is very difficult at the moment which will affect fundraising plans. Any fundraising activities which involve social gatherings should be postponed until Government advice suggests it is safe to resume these activities. If you have recently made a donation please be assured the money will be used to help us send Smiles in the future.
Going forward
Smile For ME is going to continue being a place to share a smile. We do have some things planned online which you can join in with, keep an eye on our social media Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. For now we will try to keep you smiling and we look forward to getting back to regular scheduling as soon as possible.

A belated heartfelt thank you for the SMILE I received instigated by my daughter Emma. It was an enormous emotional gift to receive as all you living with ME will realize. Emma has lived with ME for many years and it is still a daily challenge for her. During this time we have faced the challenges as a family together and grown stronger for it.
